Cookie notice

This notice explains the cookies OpenTend uses and why. In short, there are only a few, and each one is needed to sign you in or get you to the right page.

Last updated 3 October 2026

1.The short version

OpenTend only uses cookies that are strictly necessary to sign you in, keep your account secure and make the service work. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not let third parties track you on our site.

Because strictly necessary cookies are exempt from the consent requirement under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we do not show a cookie banner. If we ever want to add cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and update this notice.

2.What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let the site recognise your browser on later requests, for example to keep you signed in as you move between pages. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, work in much the same way and are covered by this notice too.

3.Cookies we use

Signing in to OpenTend is handled by Clerk, our authentication provider. The cookies below are set on the OpenTend site when you visit or sign in.

__session
Keeps you signed in by holding a short-lived token that proves who you are on each request.Set by Clerk, for OpenTend · Short-lived, renewed automatically while you are signed in
__client_uat
Records when you last signed in or out, so the app can tell whether your session is still valid.Set by Clerk, for OpenTend · Until you sign out, or up to one year
ot_after_auth
Remembers the page you were trying to reach (for example an invitation link) so we can take you back there after you sign up or sign in.Set by OpenTend · 30 minutes

Clerk may set a small number of related cookies with similar names (some carry a short suffix) and security cookies on its own sign-in domain. These are used only for authentication and protecting accounts against abuse, never for advertising.

4.Local storage

Inside the app, we remember display choices you make, such as how you like a cohort board laid out, in your browser’s local storage. This stays on your device, is not sent to us and is not used to track you.

5.Payments and other sites

When you pay for a plan or manage billing, you are taken to Stripe’s checkout or customer portal. Stripe sets its own cookies on its own domain to process payments securely and prevent fraud. These are covered by Stripe’s cookie policy, not this notice. The same applies to any other website you reach through a link from OpenTend, such as a tender’s original notice.

6.Controlling cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the cookies listed above, you will not be able to sign in to OpenTend, although you can still read the public pages of our website.

7.Changes and contact

We will update this notice if the cookies we use change. For more about how we handle personal data, see our privacy notice. Questions are welcome at [email protected].
